Vision and Mission

In response to the development and prospect of global politics, economy, culture, society and technology, and based on the experience of the schools under its umbrella in providing quality education for 85 years and in particular founder Dr Betty Chan Po-king’s 50 years of education belief and practice, China Education Development (Investment & Management) Co. Limited (CED) has produced a unified pedagogy. At the conceptual level, the pedagogy can be summed up as “Chinese, modern and global-humanistic”; in the aspect of format and method, it can be described as “environmental, interactive and transformational”.

Introducing the “Chinese” concept is because China plays an increasing role in the world and the traditional Chinese culture still exerts a strong influence on the contemporary life. Chinese elements in education are bound to increase. Therefore, we contend that global humanistic education should stress the importance of Chinese elements and foster Chinese feelings and networking. The “modern” concept can be explained by the mottos of CED’s schools: “Align with science and technology; culture and arts; love and charity” and the founder’s philosophy of the universe: “Gazing at the enormous sky; touching the earth; creations are from the same origin; love is the origin”. Being “global-humanistic” can break the boundary of nationalities so that we can tackle problems with a global and entire humanity perspective and stress the importance of a community of common destiny of mankind and the responsibility for all things on earth.

The “environmental, interactive and transformational” format and method underline the student-centred pedagogy. We emphasise the need to create an environment in which children can follow and find their interest and learn in an interactive way, and the curriculum develops according to students’ needs. Therefore, we will create a harmonious, friendly and multicultural environment to let students learn happily and at the same time develop emergent curricula and introduce Learning Community to encourage students to become more proactive and learn to work with others.

CED believes global humanistic education is to nurture students through the content and process of education to achieve an inner transformation so that they become talents with multicultural essence, and fully develop their mind and body, skills and values while laying a foundation of lifelong learning to cope with the various challenges of the international environment in the 21st century.
